A Home, In Concept
Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day
By: Rory
Well the cabin is still in the building process, and as the next payment looms, not to mention our loan repayments begin, we’re a little tight on cash. This has not stopped us ordering most of our bathroom fixtures. Here’s a question for all of you, does anyone know anything about plumbing? I can tell you I have learned very quickly how little I understand about plumbing. We decided due to lack of communication from our plumber that we should just order all the stuff we want and then show him and have him install it. Because we don’t know how our choices affect the cost of installation or the pipping, we’re moving through this step, blind. I have faith it will all work out in the end, and with Philip and his cousin set to dig out the pipe beds this week I have high hopes for our little home. Even with all the confusion about prices and how our concepts are going to come together we are excitedly ordering fixtures and electronics. What we don’t know about plumbing we make up for in being excellent shoppers!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still semi type A, so we made lists and came up with a priority ordering system, so we spend a little every week over a three month period. It seemed like a good idea at the time but with no “structure” out back, Philip’s parents living room is playing host to most of our bathroom and some of our kitchen. Still, with each new package I get more excited. I feel like some kids spend their childhood dreaming about their wedding while I spent mine wishing to decorate my own home. This is like a tester version because it’s a relatively small space so we don’t have to buy a lot, but we have free range to get what we want. Needless to say, Philip and I have a long wishlist as we’ve both been relatively broke for most of our relationship. This is like our first time really having our own space as we’ve always lived with roommates or strangers. It’s a fun journey to be on together, somehow he makes everything feel like it’s just going to work out.

Baking With My Grandma
by rory
The way cornflour mixes with water
Binding and strengthening
Reminds me of my granmother
The careful way she stirred
Perhaps its not the thickening agent at all
Maybe the memories that flows through me
Have bound me to the life I used to know
And these moments are a recipe too

Hey, if you have specific questions, ask Jas to ask Nathan. He'll know and won't mind sending you info. Good luck.
You kids are crazy! (In the best possible way).
